My five favourite mascaras

This was originally published over on Help My Style

Lancome Hypnôse RRP €27.50
Good Lord, the packaging alone makes me feel like I’m Ava Gardner. All yummy curves and glamour and little hints of gold with this little beauty. This is a wonderful, glossy and shiny
mascara. There’s a great result from the first application, but use a zig-zagging with the brush on the second go and it’ll give you pretty, fluttery lashes.

Marks and Spencers Autograph – Falsh Lash Effect RRP €15.00
Marks’ isn’t this first place you would think of for make-up, but their range is surprisingly good quality and reasonably priced. And if your Nana and your Mom shop there it has to be good for you. I love this mascara because the brush is big and fat but has incy wincy bristles on the comb so there’s very little clump. It won’t last as long as the more expensive mascaras but it’s a good everyday option.

Benefit ‘They’re Real’ RRP €26.00
I still remember the first time I used Benefit’s Bad Gal mascara. I felt as if it were put on earth just to make my eyelashes happy. It was the champion in my make-up bag and I still adore it but I’ve been having a little fling with ‘They’re Real’ since it came along and they’re both vying for my heart. This is an incredible mascara. It’s got sexy packaging, as only Benefit can do and it’s truly a little miracle for your lashes. And when it says ‘it lasts’, it really does.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Mascara RRP €8.99
Ever since I bought my first pan-stick for the school disco when I was 14 years old I’ve had a little soft spot for Rimmel. I remember my cousin Evelyn wearing this and I was convinced she had false lashes. Nature has blessed her with beauty and great eyelashes, but still, I could feel the draught every time she blinked. This is reasonable, it does work and the orange tube makes it easy to spot in your handbag. However, I would avoid it if you have very sensitive eyes as it can make them weepy.

Dior DiorShow Mascara RRP €32.50
This is the Marlon Brando mascara. Fat, glorious and it’s straight in – no messing baby. The packaging is pretty, Hollywood and indulgent. Everything about it is excessive, including the price and there’s nothing I don’t love about it. It’s glossy, the brush is wonderful and it really gives great lash. Respect.
